  • @Andy_Schleider said: We use Selectapension but I understand CashCalc will be releasing an offering soon. If it's any good we'll probably use that instead due to the integration with Intelliflo (plus it generally looks fresher and cleaner than S…
  • We have asked a couple of providers to come in and speak to us about Shareholder Protection, Keyman cover and Relevant Life which we should hopefully be able to get around 4-5 hours from. You could try Akademia who have a few videos that would ge…
  • Abraham Okusanya (the guy behind the TimeLine app mentioned above) does a load of blogs on this.  Latest one was about the idea of keeping a cash buffer and is well worth a read.  https://finalytiq.co.uk/cash-reserve-buffers-withdrawal-rates-old-…
  • Are there any slides from the day available for those who couldn't make it?
  • Would it be worth looking at a whole of life policy as well as the LTA ,as part of the  life cover option?   It would give the client the option of continuing the life cover at age 70 regardless of their health and would mean that you would be cove…
  • We use them too, however one area to watch is that if you are transferring in an existing drawdown plan with more than one tranche, then each tranche is treated separately and priced according to the value of each tranche. This can mean that the cl…
  • Jona said: So, a transfer to a QROPS/ROPS whilst remaining as UK tax res means a 25% tax charge on the transfer value (i.e. LTA charge). Moving to the country in which you've just transferred your UK pension (as long as EEA) means no 25% tax c…
  • Jamie_Barnes said: Have you tried Aviva Adviser Academy yet? that's completely free and has plenty of materials including shortened chapter summaries and practise tests. The practise tests tend to be more tricky than the real thing so is a good…
  • Hi Andy Trusts aren't my area of expertise by a long shot but if you want to avoid the 10 year charge you could always consider a BPR product within the trust.  Octopus have a good guide on how it works. https://www.octopusinvestments.com/adviser/…
  • Thanks Richard, not what I was hoping to hear though.       Can I ask were the errors you spotted due to things showing up when they should have been removed by filters, or things being excluded by filters that should have been included? The error …
  • Thanks guys. I will check these out.   We are also going to have a look at AJ Bell's Model Portfolios as these are in passives.
  • I would agree with the other posters that if you are going to do two then AF5 should be one of them. I managed AF1 and AF5 together.
  • I used r02 and j10 when I sat the exam back in 2012 (I think, it might have been 2013) I mainly used pass papers from the cii for AF 4 but it is worth looking over ro2 and J10 for questions with calculations in them as well. To be honest with you …

  • I would also suggest trying City Trustees and Xafinity.  We have used both recently for complicated cases, although not a SSAS loanback, that others did not want to take and they were both very helpful.
  • Sounds like we need another paraplanner going by those ratios I was wondering why I never had a minute to catch my breath!
  • MICAP are also worth using.   https://micap.com/ They carry out reviews of EIS/SEIS, VCT and BPR products and also have a list of currently available opportunities. They seem to have less reviews than Martin Churchill or Allenbridge but they are …
  • Useful article from Finalytiq on the outlook for Alliance Trust Savings. http://www.finalytiq.co.uk/beginning-end-alliance-trust-savings/
  • Hi Suse I'm fairly new to Voyant so I'm sure others will have more useful suggestions but we just use the detailed versions of the cash flow and the liquid assets graphs.  We generally don't bother with the cash flow tables as they take up too much…
  • Thanks Andy,  Good to know I'm on the right lines. On the topic of changing to a more forward looking view, my boss was at an Investec event recently and sent round the slides from it. Their Head of Research has produced a 'Blackbook' giving thei…
